I was born and raised in a small working class town in Essex, just outside of East London. I am married with three sons and in 2006 we all moved to the other side of the world, settling on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, about 50K outside of Melbourne Australia. It's a whole new way of life for us down here,we are so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world.
I am currently a stay at home mum but in the past I have worked at Marks & Spencer, as a classroom assistant/teachers aid and have run my business.
As well as writing, I love to read and have been known to get through four or five books a week. My other interests are watching my boys play football...The round ball version; I am happy to admit to being an addict of social media and I owe a lot to my Facebook and Twitter family in promoting my work; I am also rather partial to a glass... or bottle of wine, a nicely chilled Marlborough Sav Blanc being my favorite. Being a born and raised Essex girl, I will happily admit to be being a big fan of spray tans, Shellac and am regularly, waxed, tinted and sculpted, although I am more likely to be found in thongs/flipflops than a pair of white stilettos these days.

REVIEW: Down to You (The Bad Boys, #1) by M. Leighton

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

3 Sexy but sometimes Annoying Hearts!

"There's an unsavory term for that- a guy forcing a girl to do sexual things. But what is it they say? You can't rape the willing. And I'd be willing. Oh, how I'd be willing."

REACTION AFTER READING THE BOOK

I had mixed reaction towards this book.

It was definitely drool-worthy!
Those Daveport twins are just S.M.O.K.I.N! :)

But also...

annoying at times well because of Olivia!!

THE GIST

Olivia thinks of herself as a plain and normal college girl. She thinks that no hot guy will find her attractive but that's where she's wrong. Two hot guys are literally throwing themselves at her feet.

Yeah both of them are hot and I can't tell who looks better or who is hotter because they look alike.
You got it right fellas!!

They're twins! Cash and Nash Davenport.

Olivia met Cash when her friend had a bridal shower at a club. What do girls do in bachellorette parties? Of course they hire strippers!! Hot, sexy ones! Cash came in. They immediately assumed he was a stripper. Oliva took on a dare and almost did it until... The real stripper came knocking on their door.

*yeah it was embarassing* turns out Cash was the owner of the bar. *double embarassing!*

Olivia thought that was the end of it. She will never see the hot guy who made her insides squirm with desire. But again, she was soooo wrong! Turns out Mr.Stripper-Wannabe/Bar-owner is her cousin Marissa's boyfriend. She freaked out. And He *the boyfriend* had no clue who she was. Turns out this was not Cash but the twin, Nash.

Now.. Olivia can't help herself but be attacted to both of them. She knew she should stay away from the likes of Cash as he is dangerously a playboy and she got hurt before by one. She likes Nash, because he was safe and nice and seem to be a good guy but obviously, she should steer clear from him too.. because he's attached and to no other than her cousin.

As the story unfolds, more things are revealed. The secret that the Davenport twins have should make her run and hide but she didn't. She was way to attached to leave now.

MEET THE CHARACTERS

Olivia

I didn't like her that much.
She was annoying.
She felt so inferior.
She wasn't confident even though she was insanely pretty.
She's pretty much the cliche-ish type of female character. The pretty-girl-who-doesn't-know kind of character and that's annoying as fuck.
To add to that, I hated that she couldn't seem to choose between and Cash and Nash.. *Not that she needs to really.. LOL*

"I want both Cash and Nash. They both came with their own brand of trouble. Maybe not knowing which one I'm giving in to will be a good thing.

This was actually during that time when someone was feeling her up and she wasn't sure if it was Cash or Nash. And she like decided she didn't really care. *Not that I would blame her anyways. LOL*

Okay I think I'm a bit too hard on Olivia. She's not the worst MC out there. I'd have to just say that. There are more extremely annoying ones out there. I think the reason why I didn't like her was because there was nothing really special about her. There wasn't any "omph" factor or something or whatever its called. She was right. She was plain and ordinary. But she was pretty.

Oh and she was partly stupid too.
How can she not know??????!!!!

Cash/Nash

Oh Holy Sexiness!
Cash and Nash are as different as night and day.
Cash was the bar owner who was more of the outgoing one. You'll immediately know he was the guy who just likes to play and not get attached.

Nash, on the other hand, was the more dependable one *or so it seems*. He had the sense of responsibility. He seems like the type would would treat you right and would make sure you get home safely without scratches on any part of your body. He was the type you'd want to bring home to meet Mommy and Daddy.

Anyhowww... I liked them. Both of them.. Eventhough... It turns out that... Well.. If I say anything about them.. It will really reveal the twist and I don't really want to do that.

I'm just curious though on what.. Oh my gosh.. What did you see in Olivia??? O.o I mean.. Yeah she was pretty. Well I guess that's really how you get attacted to someone right. You don't see their personality first, you see their physical features first before you know who they are.. Anyways.. *i'm just being bitter.. LOL*

ROMANCE:
Olivia + Cash/Nash = Oh Hell That was HOT!!

Yeah the scenes were insanely hot! I had no clude it was going to be that freakin intense.
Definitely not for younger audiences!

When they're not fucking, I kind of like the banter between Cash and Olivia. They look so cute together and Cash makes the cutest comments sometimes.

FINAL VERDICT

Spoilers may be up ahead

The story itself was pretty good. It wasn't common at all except for the MC Olivia. She was so ordinary. There was nothing much about her to like except maybe that she was pretty but that's about it. I actually like her friend Ginger more because she has more character than she has.

The twist.. Well it actually was a little bit unbelievable. Or maybe he was just an insomniac but still. It would be hard for anyone to do that especially if you are talking to the same person wearing a different face or character, you are bound to drop of a hint... unless the other party isn't that observant like with Olivia's case. LOL. She was so clueless it was so funny.

I can't say I saw that twist coming. It was unexpected yes but a little bit not fit for the story. Plus it broke my heart knowing that there really any twins. That annoyed me. Yeah. Don't get mad at me for being annoyed all the time. I just felt that I was sort of deceived. It sort of felt good to have a love triangle with twins involved but it turns out there wasn't really a love triangle in the first place.

Sigh.

Down To You was a short wet-your-panties kind of story. It was good. Just not good enough for me to give it more stars. But I tell you.. If you're just looking for a steamy read.. This is definitely for you.

REVIEW: Broken and Screwed (BS, #1) by Tijan

DISCLAIMER: REVIEW POSSIBLY CONTAINS LARGE AMOUNTS OF CURSE WORDS

This book was totally Broken and Screwed! The title definitely got it right.

It's the most disappointing book ever.

If I could describe this book in one word it would have to be deceptive. It will make you think that something was going to happen but then nothing really special happens and you'll wait again and then wait some more and then still... nothing happens! You'll have to buy the second book tor really find out what the hell will happen to these two damaged characters. Because honestly, I think, 3/4 of the book it was just about Alex being all gloomy, depressed, feeling sorry for herself and last but not the least, addicted to Jesse's f*cking.

I thought it would be unfair to rate this book since I haven't really finished it but I would like to still share my sentiments and why I didn't really find it appealing.

There is something seriously wrong about this book.

THE GIST

Alex lost her brother Ethan in a terrible car accident. Everything about her changed that day. She lost all the things that made her who she was before. She lost a part of herself the day she lost her brother.

What the f*ck is wrong with that picture? She lost a sibling and not her entire family!! I get it that she'd be sad. That's normal. That she'd mourn for a while. You're close with your brother okay that's understandable but giving up on life because one member of your family died? That is just fucking insane! Mental! Sigh. Or maybe that's just me.. I maybe mental for thinking that's weird. Whatever. It just felt so wrong.

Jesse, lost his best friend on that car accident and like Alex, he also hasn't been the same since. He's trying to do the best in everything he does so he could forget. To block out the pain he feels about losing Ethan.

What the hell man?!

Alex and Jesse need one another to forget. They need to be connected physically to get by.

I doubt Alex understand this concept though.

Alex feels that Jesse is the only person who could understand her pain. About her heartache. But Jesse, was harbouring a secret..

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

I had high hopes for this book really. It has tons of rave reviews and it has a high rating on GR and don't forget that absolutely gorgeous cover!

When I started reading it, it was okay at first. I liked how the author writes. It was fluid. I guess the real problem that I had was not with the writing but the story itself.

Oh and the annoying characters.

MEET THE CHARACTERS

Alex

Sorry but I won't make an effort to look for a character that looks like her like on my other reviews. I just really want to explain why Alex, would have to be one of the most terrible characters I have ever read about.

I get that she was broken because of her brother's death. Like I said earlier, it was understandable. What wasn't understandable was how depressed she became when he died. What was it that made her so depressed she would give up on her life entirely?

What was it with Ethan anyways? It was never that much explained.

That wasn't really the reason why I absolutely destest her existence so dearly. The main reason I didn't like her was because she allowed herself to be someone's b*tch. She allowed herself to be a DOORMAT! A cure for an itch!

She made herself Jesse's bitch when obviously there are other guys out there who would be able to treat her better.

She deserve so much more than just being used as a sex toy by Jesse who was a total bi-polar if you ask me. He may be gorgeous but he was bonkers. Flipped out. Schizo. Unhinged. Screwy. I could go on but I'd rather not go into more details. No girl deserve a guy like Jesse. I feel extremely bad that Alex would let some guy use her that way.

I heard from friends that Alex would go dark on the next book because she went psycho at some point when her parents left her. I have no idea what's up withn that. She has lousy parents and she doesn't have to be a lousy person because of that. Oh and did I mention Alex has lousy friends too?

Alex is one unlucky girl.

Jesse

Seriously. You don't deserve any sympathy from any body. How could anyone like your character? You have nothing redeemable in you! You are a man-whore who took advantage of a mourning girl!!! What the hell is wrong with you?

I get damaged characters. I love damaged characters really. I love reading about how they are in pain and how hard life has been for them, how unfair everything is for them but in the end they overcome all that and make triumph over all the crazy shit life has offered them. Jesse, was damaged yes, but I have no love at all for him at all. I hated him.

I think the problem with Jesse's character is that you rarely see this good side of him and with that I hated him more. I couldn't really see the good thing that he has to offer Alex. He was a bad influence to her. He was a drug that she needs to get out of her system. He needs to be flushed and forever get lost in the sewage.

Usually, its just the lead female character that annoys the living hell out of me but this time... It was the other way around. I actually kind of think Alex was just a victim of choosing the wrong friends, being the daugther of two useless parents and falling for an asshole.

Oh and seriously dude.. I don't get you and your love for Ethan.

"My God. I fucking loved that guy."

I know there has to be more to the story and why Jesse is so attached to Ethan. There has to be something orrrr... It's possible that Jesse like Ethan more than a friend and the reason why he fucks Alex was because he feels that he's somewhat fucking Ethan. LOL. Oh god! That was a bit twisted. Sometimes my brain works weirdly but what the hell.. Could be. Who knows whats on the next book right? I have no plan of reading it.

Minor Characters

For some bizarre reason, all the characters in this book are nuts except for Eric. For me he was the only likeable character in the whole novel. He likes Alex. Genuinely and she, blinded by the invisible love and affection given to her by Jesse, said she wasn't interested. That knocked me off senseless. I don't get Alex really. Seriously, Alex makes the most irrational decisions. I dunno where she gets her logic sometimes.

Marissa (one of Alex' friends who is not really) is the biggest bitch ever created in the whole book world!!! I want to murder her, chop her up and feed her arms and legs to the sharks!! She was the worse character ever made! She was also another disgrace to the female race. Gawwd! What a very bad friend!! She was willing to betray a friend to get to a guy's pants? That is just demented!!

Angie. Oh dear. I have no clue what to think about her.

Jeremy. I dunno what's up with you. And honestly, I don't care.

Aside from Marissa, Alex' parents are following in close second to my least favorite character in the entire history. They were a sorry excuse for a parent. They just leave her to fend for herself after their son died. What I see wrong in this picture is how they treat Jesse more like their kid that Alex. What the hell was that? You lost one kid and you were willing to let another kid die too (possibly of depression)? You are not suited to be parents. I don't care what your reasons are but you guys are not fit to be parents.

FINAL VERDICT

This could have been a really awesome book if you ask me. It would have been really better if the characterization was made right. If the development of the characters weren't too slow. I think it was intentionally made this was so we'd get the second book. It just didn't work for me. It did work for a bunch of others but it didn't for me.

I've read at least almost 50-70% of this book and I just grew tired eventually of all the whining and feeling sorry or feeling terrible about everything.

This book is all sorts of crazy. I couldn't connect at all.

I tried really. I really really tried to like it but it just didn't work well for me. Especially Jesse. Usually the male character is enough to get me through the real rough edges of a book and this one failed me. Jesse was not swoon-worthy, he was spit worthy. I want to spit at him and say "You have no respect for woman you asshole!" He may have feelings for Alex but still he was an opportunist and got what he wanted all the time because Alex was such a pushover.

Dark Alex is what I would have wanted to see in this book. Not the gloomy and extremely passive Alex but the Alex who wouldn't-care-a-shit-in-the-world Alex. It would have been so much better if she was like that rather than a fucking doormat or a human version of a blowup doll.

I don't like writing bad reviews. These books are worked hard on by the author but I think its also a good idea that they know what other readers think of the book. It would help them improve their work in the future. Constructive criticism. And like I said, the writing style was not the problem. I didn't see any grammatical errors or any abuse with punctuations. The writing was perfect its just the storyline and characterization that's the problem.

Although I really want to know what happens to Alex, I still won't be reading the next one. I just feel like I'd rather read something that I'll enjoy than read a book that you're curious on what happens next.

I didn't put a rating on this book. I don't want to be unfair and put a 1 it didn't deserve. I would only rate a book if I finish it. I just wanted to share my thoughts about why I couldn't finish it. For those who loved this book, I'm sorry, I really couldn't get to it.

BOOK SPOTLIGHT: Dyrad by Sonya Solomonovich

Book Title: Dryad
Author: Sonya Solomonovich
Genre: Fantasy, New Adult
Publication Date: October 1, 2013
Book Description

Solena is a dryad from the South American rainforest who is scorned by other dryads for her obsession with the human world. She likes to wear makeup, read human magazines such as Narcissism Carnival, and unlike self-respecting dryads who live under the stars, she lives in a treehouse.
But when the rain forest is threatened by a timber corporation, it is Solena who is chosen to prevent disaster by going undercover in a human company.
What she discovers goes much deeper than simply the fate of the rainforest. The future of the world could be at stake.
The humans are going back in time in order to extract natural resources and circumvent environmental laws, and Solena is swept along on a journey back to the 17th century.
The dryad finds herself falling for the heir to the timber corporation, the handsome Rodney Love, but as her adventures take her back in time and deeper into the rainforest, she finds the possibility of another love, one that transcends time itself…
Who will win the dryad’s heart: a smooth-talking billionaire who graces the cover of Narcissism Carnival or a wild and unruly jungle warrior?

REVIEW: Surrendering (Surrender, #1) by Ahren Sanders

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

REVIEW COPY PROVIDED BY AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW

  5 Sparkling and Steamy Hearts!

Holy.Hotness indeed!!

This book had everything! It was refreshing read really. It wasn't really that hard to connect with the story as the writing is pretty awesome. When I was reading, it felt as if a friend was telling me her story. I just really loved that. You'll get hooked just by reading the first few pages. This book was very easy to love!

Hoooraaayyy!!

A job well done on this book!!

HERE'S THE GIST

Raven moved back home to spend more time with her family and also complete her MBA at Vanderbilt. Everything was planned out but what she wasn't planning on was being tackled over by a guy whom (in her head) she decided to name as Holy-Hotness, during one of her yoga sessions. Although he was hot as hell and she was totally attacted, she wasn't really that interested.

Just when Raven thought that was the end of her encounter with Mr.Holy Hotness... She was so wrong.

Raven rented a room with a house she immediately falls in love with. She has two roommates which coincidentally were... Mr. Holy Hotness' sisters.

Yep that's right. Her roommates was the same guy whom was on top of her just moments ago!! What a small world isn't it? Imagine how more awkward it was when everone knew what they called Declan. Yep. The hansome tackler has a name. It was Declan Collins.

Declan Collins was a lead vocalist for a band name Sayge. He had a great voice, handsome, a loving brother and full-pledged womanizer. He doesn't do relationships. You see him with a different girl in the backroom before and after each of their performance. But then he meets Raven... She stirs him up. It was like she's woken up something inside of him that has been sleeping for a long time and the guy who sort of sworn off being in a relationship suddenly wanted to prove to everyone (including his sisters) that he capable of staying loyal to one  girl.

After spending time together, a few sleepovers and movie sessions (no sex... yet..) they've gotten close and eventually fell in love.

Happily ever after? No definitely not.

Things happened.
They argued.
They had differences.
Someone was too jealous.
Someone was too relax.
Someone else was in love but doesn't want to admit it. *i guess you guys will figure who this one is easily!*
A decision was made which made the other one decide too.
Lots of things happened.
But will Declan and Raven's love be enough to save their relationship and surpass all their trials?

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

I would like to thank Ahren again for the opportunity to read and review this book. It was amazing by the way!

Okay so first thoughts on this book.. I am a cover whore so I definitely fell in love with that cover! It was damn gorgeous. One complain though was I couldn't see the guy's face. Would have been nice to have some sort of glimpse on how the author picture the guy in her book right? But that's just a minor senseless rant. It doesn't really affect on how awesome the story is.

So what else? The blurb in goodreads. It was definitely what this book is all about. It stayed true to the book but... Well you'll have to read it to know why.. Something towards the end happened which completely left my mouth hanging open.

It just hit me like an unexpected hurricane. I didn't see it coming which is a good thing!

MEET THE CHARACTERS

Ravenella Hayes

"Um, Declan, don't you need a shirt?"

First. Let me just get this out of my chest. Her name sounds weird when you say Ravenella. I have no idea how you say that. I like her as Raven even though she doesn't have jet black hair. Black and raven? Get it? LOL. Okay no that wasn't very funny. I suck at making jokes.

Back to the Raven.

Soo. She's just amazing! What can I say? I loved her from start to finish. She's one of those characters that you will love even though they are perfect from head to foot. She was smart. She was extremely pretty. She was understanding. She was friendly. She knows how to dance. She was nice to everyone. She was perfect in literally everything and sometimes I think its unfair.

But then as you read through the book you'll see that she's not really that perfect either. Sometimes she was insenstive towards how Declan was feeling. Sometimes she makes a decision because of how bad she feels which ends up making the people around her worry. Sometimes she's wreckless. I thought I fell in love with a character that was way too perfect.. But its good to know that she's just as flawed as the other female leads that I loved and adored. She was just as imperfect and I think I like her better that way.

She's not a weak character. I think that's also why I liked her. She was the type of girl that doesn't take shit from anyone.. Including Declan, her brother, Finn and crazy psycho fans of Declan's band.

By the way just an FYI on Raven.. Her father was an ex-special forces and now handles a security stuff company and he has guys.. Sometimes her father gets too paranoid sooo.. She has hunky, overprotective body guards on her all the time. Eventually, they became her friends especially Finn but come on!! 7 hot-goodlooking-sexy guys all there to protect you from bad guys?! How lucky can you fucking get?

Declan Collins

"One of these days, I hope you'll know about every part of my body, not just my tatoos."

Drool.
*wipes drool*
Drooling again.
Drool pooling down on the floor.

Declan. I just love saying that name. Well what can I say with Mr. Holy Hotness? A lot!

When you read the blurb, you might get turned off because he seems to be the typical badboy who fell in love with a virgin *oopsie. yep. Raven is a virgin* and then changed blah blah bullshit but then.. He was more than that.

Aside from being sexy as hell.

"He is about 6'2 and all muscles. His chest, his arms, and back strain under his shirt. A trail of ink that resembles a tribal design snakes around his upper arm. His dark hair is cut close on the sides and longer on top. He has the greenest eyes I've ever looked into. All of a sudden, I feel my knees go weak as I stare at him."

"He's in faded jeans and a black shirt; I see he has a piercing on his lower lip and it's sexy as hell. I'm thinking about how much I want to run my tongue over his lips when he clears his throat and looks at me."

Declan was also an amazing brother and son. He loves his family so much that I want to have a family with him. LOL.

"There were only three women in my life that I loved before you. One was my mom, and the other two are my sisters. I love you in a different, deeper way and these feelings are foreign to me."

I liked Declan. A lot. He was a total alpha male! Gawwd he is so hot. And loving. And sweet. And thoughtful. And a musician. And he's hot. Oh and did I mention he was gorgeous too? Did I just forget to mention that? Oh dear. I'm totally smitten by this handsome devil!

What else? Oh well. Declan was kind of the jealous type. He was overly possessive that sometimes I think is just a tad bit out of control. But hey it works with the story I guess. And I think it was highly because he doesn't know how the relationship stuff works because if he wasn't jealous and just got the relationship thing perfect the first time then.. That is just crazy and highly unrealistic. So i liked him just the way he is. :)

Declan was a monster... in bed! If you could ask Raven, she'll probably say she had thousands of orgasms and I had a couple of bookgasms too myself. Dude! It was really hot. And that piercing!! Fucking hell! That was just... *phew* I couldn't even start. I'm not into piercings but that has got to be the hottest one ever!

I'd go on and on about Declan but that's not going to be much fun after a while sooo we'll go now to..

Finn Black

"Rave, I've seen you in your yoga clothes and I can guarantee you that you had nothing to be embarrassed about. Even though I can't touch, doesn't mean I can't look - and appreciate the view."

I love Finn too! He is the type of best friend that every girl should have but then.. That's going to be trouble if the guy falls in love with the girl and the girl has no fucking clue. Not saying that's the case here but... Yeah well who knows? All I could say is that I loved Finn from Chapter 1 and so on. He is very dependable and honest and cute as hell. There is a big reason why Declan is always so possessive of Raven. And one of them was Finn.

Even though Raven and Finn are ONLY friends, being that close to a guy while you have your boyfriend is indeed a bit weird. I guess as time passes by the guy will have to deal but I think Rave did a good job making it clear that Declan is who she wants and not Finn or any other guy. Still... That doesn't stop me from drooling and swooning over Finn too.

Finn, for me, is actually a main character too. He plays a big role althroughout the story and I loved that he did. I'll be looking out for you on the next book! Hope you don't screw up!! LOL.

Declan + Raven = IT'S GETTING SO HOT IN HERE!

Raven and Declan could be as cute as hell when they're talking.. They make such a cute couple.

But they could be bipolar sometimes. Not in a bad way. They are just cuddly sweet one minute and the next minute.. *BOOM* all their clothes are gone. And I would have to warn you... The steamy scenes are REALLY steamy! Oh dear! I had countless bookgasms! It was insane. There was a lot of them. Yeah there was a lot but the book didn't lose its substance because of the sexy parts which was good!

Their relationship builded up great. They were attacted to each other but they didn't just jump into a relationship because of that. I think Raven was to be given kudos for that!

There was jealously here and there majority of which was from Declan but.. Raven has her moments too. LOL. Especially with those two girls.. That was extremely funny! You go girl!

FINAL VERDICT

I was completely taken by this book. It drew me in and suck me into its pages!  There was no doubt this would have to be one of my favorite books for this year!

Like I said, the writing was fluid, the story was just so good!

I would have to make some comments though about how long some of the scenes were. I think there are some parts that the story could do without but with it its still okay. All I'm saying was that there are some parts that could be taken out but will still come out as amazing!

There were a lot of secondary characters too! I'd like to name them all and give you guys a description but if I did.. it will take me forever. LOL. Just kidding. But there seriously were a lot and hopefully they'd get their own story because from what I have read.. They each have their own backstories too.

At first, it seems like a common story of a rocker and a good innocent girl but its not. The twists and turns come out towards the end of the story and you'll be surprised on how surprising it is. I didn't see that stupid cliffhanger coming and also that struggle they had towards the end. I wasn't expecting it at all and I loved it. It made me rate the book 5! It was because of the uncertainty of what will happen next. I always love that in a book. A book is supposed to be like a box of chocolate, you're never suppose to know what will happen next.. Unless of course, you skim through the pages and read the end!!

Anyhow.. I loved loved loved it! I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves a cute and steamy romance novel that will make you smile, laugh, fall in love and... bookgasm then this is definitely for you!
